This unique sensor allows the study of the amount of water drawn by plant production by measuring the moisture and water potential of the soil studied.
Measuring soil moisture indicates the relative amount of water still available in the soil; that is to say, that can be picked up by the plant. Indeed, a soil whose moisture level is equal to that of the plant is no longer able to deliver water to it.
Thus, the indications given by the moisture and water potential sensors of a soil reveal the quantity of water consumed in real time by a culture and the quantity of water still available for it.
The soil moisture sensor is measured in the field, outdoors, like in a greenhouse or in a pot, notably using the PASCO ecosystem model.
The probes can be used simultaneously and close to each other without generating any interference.
The soil moisture and water potential probes work with the same sensor.
