Cognitive objectives:
Use a pregnancy test.
Detection of HCG hormone (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) in the simulated urine of a pregnant woman by an agglutination process.
Proposed activity:
This test is based on the agglutination reaction between anti-HCG antibodies fixed on latex balls and the HCG hormone contained in a simulated urine.
The reaction is carried out on slides with concavities.
On a slide with 2 concavities a drop of urine without HCG and a drop of urine +HCG will be deposited . A drop of HCG latex solution will be added to the two drops of urine.
The results are visible to the naked eye in two minutes.
Results obtained:
The agglutination is visible to the naked eye after two minutes if the urine contains HCG.
We will compare it with simulated urine without HCG.
The absence of agglutination is the negative control.
