Cognitive objectives:
These kits show the diversity of efficacy of antibiotic action on bacterial species.
Handling is safe for students: the bacteria used are non-pathogenic and antibiotics are provided on paper disc.

Proposed activity:
The bacteria are cultured on a nutrient agar, the antibiotic discs are deposited on the agar. The antibiotics will diffuse around the discs and form a concentration gradient in the agar. The resistance of each strain to the different antibiotics can be studied by measuring the inhibition diameters around the discs.
