Essential oils are very often present in the composition of beauty products such as balms, protective oils or moisturising creams. Some of these, in addition to their perfume, have widely used bactericidal and anti-fungal properties, especially in cosmetology.

Proposed activity:
We propose testing the bactericidal effect of three essential oils: lemon, cinnamon, lavender and comparing their antibacterial properties on a culture of E. coli.

Composition of the kit:

  • An E. Coli strain (on petri dish)
  • 2 packs of 10 sterile culture dishes ready for use
  • A sachet containing:
  • A 2ml tube of lemon essential oil
  • A 2ml tube of cinnamon essential oil
  • A 2ml tube of lavender essential oil
  • 2 paper disc filters
  • 3 3 ml droppers
    Necessary material:
  • Punch or scissors
  • Bunsen burner
  • Sterile inoculating loops
  • Bacteriological oven
    Conservation:
    4 weeks at 4 ° C
