Linking the needs of plants and their special place in food networks
From samples of agricultural soil, forest soil and autoclaved forest soil, have your students undertake comparative crops of a common plant.
At the same time (optional), they will be able to cultivate the microbial flora of the various soils so as to be able to make hypotheses on the causes of the differences observed with their cultures.

Composition for 10 pairs of students:

  • 30 scoops + marking stickers
  • 3 soil samples (agricultural land, forest and autoclaved forest land)
  • 1 bag of wheat seeds (variety may vary)
  • Educational instructions
    Option:
After having suspended 10 g of soil and leaving it to rest for 24 hours, the pupils take the supernatant and sow it on the petri dishes (Ref: MCPS.) or on numbering contact slides (Ref: LAMBAC).
Incubate for 24h at 30 ° C in an oven or a few days at room temperature.
Observe and count the different colonies or fungi that have developed so that students can formulate a hypothesis about the differences observed in the corresponding cultures.
