The PASCO ecosystem model consists of three interconnected and detachable tanks. At the top of each of these tanks are holes provided with seals and plugs allowing the insertion of sensors.

Each chamber represents a living environment:

• Decaying environment Each tank can be used independently to study a single ecosystem or the 3 chambers can be interconnected to study the interactions between different ecosystems.
  
  The model also makes it possible to study the greenhouse effect, the effect of human pollution on an ecosystem, aerial photosynthesis, animal or plant respiration...

  Application example: Study of photosynthesis of a plant.
  The measurements are carried out using sensors of oxygen and gaseous carbon dioxide. The seals ensure it is perfectly airtight.
  The size of the tank allows the introduction of a whole plant. This avoids cutting a piece of plant to make measurements which stresses the plant and generally limits its photosynthetic activity.
