Group: Australopithecus. Australopithecus boisei (Zinjanthropus boisei).
Group discovered in 1959 in Tanzania. Large face, low and receding forehead, size of the face compared to the cranial cavity (cranial capacity: 530cm3), prominent mandible, prominent orbital ridge, prominent sagittal ridge suggestive of strong masticatory muscles, occipital foramina, and homineal dentition.
Probable age: 1,750,000 years.
