Cognitive objectives:
Extract and observe the pollen retained in a peat core.

Proposed activity:
From a peat core or any source of old plant debris of your choice, perform a pollen extraction to observe them after fuchsin staining.
You will be able to reveal the diversity contained in soil over time thanks to the wide variety of visible pollen from plant species existing in the studied soil.

Composition :

• 10 test tubes with stoppers
  
• 100ml of Tween 1%
  
• 100ml of potash 10%
  
• 10ml of distilled water
  
• 10ml of fuchsin dye
  
• A pollen identification sheet

• Water bath and centrifuge
  
• 125 micron sieve
  
• Slides and cover slips
  
• Microscope
